Amazing Team

I feel like so much has been going on since I wrote last. My weeks have become slammed packed, but I definitely have no complaints. This past Saturday was my first weekend team run. 35 TNT runners showed and we had a BLAST! Before setting off on our trail, we each went around and introduced ourselves and it was amazing to hear every one's stories and dedication. We then had a mission moment in which Sharon, one of our mentors, read a blurb about a team an alumni marathon experience and the emotions he felt. It really put everything in perspective about doing this endurance event for myself while fighting for an amazing cause.
Then we were off and running. It was a five mile day... and it turned out to be the best run I've had since at about a 9:30 pace. After we all went to a cafe around the corner and had some interesting conversations about, umm, clothing options for runners and the best things to do before the night of the race. Everyone was super friendly and I have already met some great people. Three of us decided to partner up for a 1/2 marathon relay coming up in early march called the Corporate Cup (come on out and cheer). Two members run 5 miles legs and the 3rd runs the last 3+ miles.

This week started off great... I bought new runners shoes :) We had a fundraising, nutrition, shoe clinic... sounds dumb, but was actually fun. I'm doing ok on the fundraising front so far (all donations are welcome and much appreciated) but this session gave me a lot of ideas (if you have any other ideas please share). I might tag team with a couple girls and hit up the drunks that are bar hopping on St. Patty's day. They may not remember where their money went the next morning. The nutrition and shoe sessions where great. I learned a lot from those that have done this before like when to take gels or gu (GROSS) and how often, what to eat the night and morning before a run, and how to keep energized through the long distance days. On to the shoes... I got a FABULOUS pair of adidas from Run For Your Life that feel like pillows.

The rest of this week is crazy as usual so I have to fit in my cross training and runs when I can. If anyone is interested in seeing the schedule just let me know :)

I'm getting more and more excited to head to Nashville. We get some time to site see, and I love to be a tourist so I can't wait! Thanks for everyone's support so far! I'm blessed to have such amazing friends and family cheering me on! More to come....
